Dallas has always been a foodie lovers city, but lately, more and more people are flocking to the state - for the food and for general day-to-day life. Seriously: so many people are moving here. It is insane!

While I’m sure not everyone is moving here for the food, that’s what I want to cover today. Here are 6 restaurants that will make you want to move to Dallas - or Texas, in general:

The French Room

The French Room is one of the oldest and most talked about restaurants in the south. Honestly, this list would not be complete with this restaurant. It absolutely screams elegance and it’s a place that you want to dress up for, especially after their remodel in 2016. The chic, en pointe decor (think Louis XVI-style chairs and Italian Murano Glass chandeliers) is matched by an exquisite menu featuring caviar snacks, foie gras terrine, sublime soufflés and an entire section dedicated to truffles. Don’t miss the tableside sazerac or cheese cart carrying 12 (yes, 12) types of cheesy goodness either. Pro tip: make reservations fast because they go quickly. It’s not cheap by any means, but it sure is romantic, so choose this place on a fancy date night, or a special occasion! 

Velvet Taco

Few things satisfy a 2am hunger craving like one of the 20 Velvet Taco offerings, served in paper wrap with a spork (napkins optional). You won’t find the predictable, run-of-the-mill fillings here, though. Think global cuisine wrapped in soft, decadent tortillas, with curious toppings include peppered bacon, seaweed salad and shrimp and grits. Insider tip: $20 cash at the restaurant back door will get you a rotisserie chicken and all the taco fixings for a group. Trust us, it works

Mot Hai Ba

Mot Hai Ba is in Dallas’ Lakewood neighborhood. The chef here executes a flawless array of traditional Vietnamese cuisine with a modern twist from the small kitchen in the back of an old house. While selecting a favorite dish is impossible, the Bánh Bao, steam rice cake filled with sweet shredded beef, is like a pillow of heaven. They also offer craft beer, amazing cocktails, and an all-French wine list.

Rosewood: The Mansion

Another date night spot! The property is what makes Rosewood: The Mansion. This is a hotel that is available to the public, coupled with a really great fancy restaurant. Just make sure that you arrive early so that you can explore the property first because like I said, that’s what makes it so special!

Lucia

Any pasta lovers here? If so, you have to go to Lucia! It might just be the best pasta that you’ve ever had in your life, if you try it. It is always a hit with every single person that visits and I’ve literally never seen a negative review about this pasta place!

Javiers

If you like cheese and Mexican in general, you also have to go to Javiers. They have a cool Cigar bar, really awesome after-dinner cocktails (one gets lit on fire!), and great food to boot. It’s a local spot that has been around for a long, long time and it is definitely a must-try.
