46 Truths For 46 Years
For my birthday this year, I thought I would share 46 life lessons and little truths about me you may or may not have known!
I am an only child (SHOCKER, I know)
In high school, I took the child development course my junior and senior year
I have been a teacher since 2004
My favorite drinks are Cokes and I just started drinking Coffee last year
Pizza needs to be thin crust and no veggies
I am not sorry for 90% of the things I did and said in my past
I didn’t eat guacamole until I was 45 years old
I have taught special education my entire teaching career
I was born here in Texas
If you want something to be a secret - don’t tell anyone - period
I have always wanted to live in Dallas cause of the show “Dallas”
I grew up watching Dallas and Falcon Crest with my grandma
Stone cold Steve Austin was one of my favorite wrestlers
Stephen King is still my favorite author
I was on drill team in high school and started my own middle school drill team on a campus I was at for 10 years. I made sure they never felt the way I was made to feel
My shoe size hasn’t changed since 8th grade (size 10)
I graduated from Stephen F Austin State University with my Degree in Marketing
I got my teaching certificate via Alt Certification
I used to weigh over 315 pounds
I currently have 3 dogs and 2 cats
Once I left my hometown, I have never had a desire to go back
I have never lived anywhere else but in Texas
My first car was a Nissan 240sx (mom said trucks were not for girls)
I was working at the Woodlands Mall the first day it opened
I was accepted into Sam Houston State University and University of Houston and didn’t go there
I learned in high school that people will hate you for no reason before they even get to know you
As an adult, people will hate you for no reason before they even get to know you
It really is easier to think of something nice to say than something ugly
If you sit, you will go. (potty lesson)
No one cares about most things as much as you do
Losing a pet is never easy and it sticks with you forever
As much as you want to think so, somethings aren’t better the second time
Don’t apologize for your standards just cause others don’t agree
You can’t change someone and you shouldn’t try
Choices you make don’t need to be justified to people who really care about you
It’s ok to detach yourself from toxic people and family members
I have never been embarrassed to be in public with my parents-grandparents - or Aunts/Uncles for that matter
Having boundaries does not make you a bad person
Do not let the opinion of others you keep you from doing what you want to do. They do not pay your bills.
I went to prom all four years of high school - but not all at my own high school
I put myself through college while raising a child- I wouldn’t allow my parents to help me
I have always been a better friend to others than they have been to me
I love to race and drive fast cars - I just drive fast period - I have a heavy foot
You really have to love yourself and know who you are before you can love and accept someone else. Changing to who you think they need and want till never work in the long term
Your job shouldn’t feel like a job - you should love what you do. When you start dreading going to work - you need to find another job.
There is no greater love in the world than the love I have for my boys. You can NEVER love a child too much, you can never be “too obsessed” with them. They are the reason I live and breathe everyday.
